This weekend we went to visit Mom and Smith and spend time at the lake. We had not been to Shelby since Christmas, so this visit was way overdue. We also got to see my old high school friend Jennifer, her husband and their 5 month old baby girl. It was great to catch up with them, but I didn't take any pictures while we were together. We did take some pictures on Saturday while the family was on a boat ride.
On Sunday, we got a chance to go swimming before we headed back home.
Nothing beats time on or in the lake! It's bittersweet to think that their house is for sale. I can't wait for them to live closer, but we will definitely miss the lake and the house in which I grew up! So, I had to take a few pictures of the house, too.
I love that house!

Another weekend at home
It was so nice to have another weekend at home. We didn't do a lot on Saturday, but I made these wonderful raspberry oat bars.
Yes, Mom, I made these, before you start asking Jason about how he made them.
On Sunday we went to church, then we went to Alex and Neely's to go to their neighborhood pool. We were only at the pool for about a half hour before the thunder made us get out, but we loved it while we were there. The water was so warm, and Sims really enjoyed being in the water. I wasn't sure how he would react considering he is not the happiest boy at his swim lessons. Of course, the indoor pool there is not warm, and I have a hard time getting in with him at the beginning. Now I know that it's not the pool that he dislikes - it's the cold water. After that, we went out to dinner with Alex and Neely. It was another wonderful weekend!

First Hair Cut
About a week and a half ago, Sims got his first hair cut. He was starting to have a pretty nice mullet going on, and I finally got brave enough to cut it! I didn't try anything fancy. I just wanted to get his hair off of his back! I didn't cut the hair around his ears, and I'm not sure when he'll let me do that. I'm just amazed I was able to cut the back of his hair fairly evenly. Of course, Jason had to help distract him while I cut. Here is the best picture I could take of his new 'do. It is still kind of mullet-ish from this angle, but the mullet ratio is a bit more acceptable.

Anniversary Weekend
This weekend was Jason's and my 11th anniversary! We had a very low-key weekend, which was exactly what we wanted after being busy for so long. We took Sims to a new (to us) park, Lake Lynn Park, and played on the playground and walked on the greenway around the lake.
On Sunday, we went to Bond Park and then relaxed at the house for the rest of the day. It was a nice, uneventful weekend!

Photos from session
Jason and I were ecstatic to see the photos from our session with Tracy Turpen. They are fantastic, if I do say so myself. It is going to be so hard to narrow down the choices. I want all (100+) of them! You can check out a few of the them on Tracy's blog.

Sunset Beach
Another trip to the beach, you ask? Yes, we've become a bit spoiled around here. This time we spent the July 4th weekend with Jason's family at Sunset Beach. They rented a house and are staying the whole week, (We wish we could be there!) but we were only able to stay through Monday.
It's was great to have the whole family together, including Tina! Our visits with her are always too short. I hope they are all enjoying a relaxing week. We are quite jealous!
