Last night without Jason

I didn't get the chance to finish up my challenge of posting pictures every day while Jason was gone.  I have one last update, even though he returned home on Friday.

Our Thursday evening was filled with this:

Lots of baton twirling.  I bet you didn't guess that!

Wednesday fun

Here are some fun shots of our Wednesday evening.  In the first pic, Sims has so many toys around him, you would think it's Christmas!  No wonder he looks so happy.

At one point Sims went over to our bar cabinet and looked into the empty wine compartments.  (At least I thought they were empty.)

And he pulls out:

A package some of his toys came in.  It looks like he found a secret place to hide things.  I'll need to keep this in mind, when I'm searching for lost objects.

Right before he went to bed, he started running around the kitchen with tupperware on his head.  Too funny!

It immediately reminded me of the guy on Fat Albert.  Sims just laughed and laughed.  He thought he was so clever!

Pizza night with lots of fun in the water

Tuesday has become pizza night at our house.  Sims and I have swim lessons after I get off of work on Tuesday, so pizza is a quick and easy dinner tradition for us now.  It is also a pretty messy meal, but Sims loves it.  Last night he ate 2 pieces of pizza!

After dinner, Sims needed a bath, which he was not too keen on for some reason.  Maybe he thought that the swimming pool was enough water for one day.  I finally got him to get in the bath and enjoy it.  It just took a little coaxing.

Once he was in the tub, everything went straight into his mouth.  Whatever keeps him happy, while I clean him!  After the bath, it was time for bed.  Tuesday evenings fly by!

Back to normal

Last night was much easier.  Sims and I had a fun time playing, and he went to bed at a normal time.  He was asleep by 8:45.

We did have a special treat around 8:00.  Our neighbor Joan stopped by for a visit.  Sims liked showing off his toys and belly button to her.  She just ate it all up!

Out of sorts, missing his daddy

Since Jason left yesterday afternoon for a business trip, I thought I would try to post at least one picture a day to show him what's happening at home.  Last night was a rough evening for me.  I had a child who was extremely sleepy (due to a rough night sleeping on Saturday night and an extremely short, late nap on Sunday), but he refused to go to sleep.  Maybe he just missed his daddy!

This picture was taken at 8:00, right before I tried to put him to bed the FIRST time.  All evidence is there that he is sleepy - tired eyes, rubbing his ear and yawning (not pictured).  I would have never guessed at this point that it would be 2 more hours before he went to sleep.  Too bad that his daddy missed all the fun!

Sunday morning

Sims was so cute this Sunday morning that I had to take a few pictures of him before we headed to church.

He loved the sailboats on his outfit.  He kept pointing to them, like "Look at these!"

Picnic at the Park

Saturday evening we loaded up Sims' red wagon and had a good old-fashioned picnic at Bond Park.

After we ate, we played with some toys, and took turns pulling Sims around in his wagon, which is harder than it looks.

Even though the weather was nice, we pretty much had the park to ourselves.

We had so much fun that we are planning another picnic tomorrow evening with some friends.

Big Boy 'Do

Good bye mullet, hello big boy!

This Saturday, we decided to cut it all off!  I'm pretty proud of the job I did, too, but I just can't get over how much older he looks now.

Beach Bums

We spent the first week of August with my family for our annual beach week at Holden Beach.  We are always so happy to include Susan, my mom's college friend, in our family!  This week went by particularly quickly.  Time flies when you are having fun!  We had an unexpected treat this year.  Susan gave Mom and me a private concert at a local church.  She needed to spend a few hours practicing for her upcoming Chopin concert in November, and we jumped at the opportunity to hear her play.  It's wonderful to be friends with a concert pianist!

Most of our time was spent on the beach or on the screen porch.  Sims just loves the beach!  Just give him a bucket of water and some shells, and he is entertained for quite a while.

He just goes and goes and goes, until he falls asleep (no matter if he is on the beach or eating lunch).

When he was asleep, we had a wild time!

We always eat lots of good food on this beach trip, but the one meal we must have is low country boil.  I look forward to this every year!

Can't wait for next  year, when Sims will have a little cousin with whom to play.
